Have you ever wondered what a Leading SAFe Training Course would be like? In this blog post that’s exactly what you’ll be able to read.
First of all, what is SAFe®?
The Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe) helps businesses address the significant challenges of developing and delivering enterprise-class software and systems in the shortest sustainable lead time. It is an online, freely revealed knowledge base of proven success patterns for implementing Lean-Agile software and systems at enterprise scale.
SAFe synchronises alignment, collaboration, and delivery for large numbers of Agile teams. Scalable and configurable, SAFe allows each organisation to adapt it to its own business needs. It supports smaller-scale solutions employing 50–125 practitioners, as well as complex systems that require thousands of people.
An extensive body of knowledge, SAFe describes the roles, responsibilities, artifacts, and activities necessary to implement Lean-Agile development. To illustrate SAFe concepts, the Scaled Agile Framework website features an interactive Big Picture graphic, which is a visual overview of the framework, and is the primary user interface to the knowledge base. Each icon of the image is clickable, offering access to an article on that topic, as well as links to related information.
Ok, but what is “Leading SAFe®”?
Leading SAFe® is a two-day training course where attendees can develop a skillset that is in demand worldwide, and empower their enterprises to succeed in a disruptive marketplace when they become a SAFe® Agilist (SA).
During this two-day course, they learn the principles and practices of the Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe®), how to execute and release value through Agile Release Trains, and what it means to lead a Lean-Agile transformation at enterprise scale.
Attendees gain an understanding of the Lean-Agile mindset and why it’s so effective in today’s adapt-or-die marketplace. They also get practical advice on supporting Agile teams and programs, empowering a Lean Portfolio, building a continuous delivery pipeline and DevOps culture, and coordinating large solutions.
So what would a course be like?
Recently Darren Wilmshurst, our SAFe Program Consultant Trainer (SPCT) visited Dubai to deliver a Leading SAFe course for EY and their client Emirates.
A recent attendee said that he thought the course was going to be ‘quite dry’, but after the course he was surprised to find the complete opposite.
The course was highly interactive and experiential, because we find that we learn so much more by ‘doing’ rather than just ‘listening’. Have a look at the video below to see for yourself.
Apart from the above feedback towards his course, we reckon Darren must be over the moon reading what some of his other course attendees have said about him.
"Probably one of the best courses I have been on for a while. It was tough to get it all done and the exercises really helped to grasp the concepts.”
“Darren demonstrated excellent knowledge of the course content throughout both training days, and was able to relate all questions back to the SAFe framework.”
“Darren was very engaging in his presentation style. Lots of case studies from his career explaining how to transform an organisation and make them aware of what they are doing. For example, running lots of projects at the same time… but badly, how business cases and benefits realisation should make actual organisation change. He engaged with the group really well and handled tough questions exceptionally."
"Good balance of taught, personal experience, delegate work, breaks throughout. The course was pitched right at my level so I didn't struggle with any of the material."
"Knowledgeable and enthusiastic and happy to stop and cover questions.”
"Darren presents his passion on Agile very well. His sharing of his experiences helps on 'how the theory has been applied to companies’.”
"Darren is a ‘field consultant’ who really knows his stuff.”
"Darren gave excellent explanation and insight into SAFe.”“Very enthusiastic, brought in his own experience of working with companies very well.”
