So, do you have kids? I do!

Did you go to antenatal classes? I did!

Did you read books on parenting? Yep!

Did you think you were fully prepared for parenthood? Of course I did. I mean what is all the fuss about, how difficult could it be!

Was it anything like you expected? Erh, NO!

Nothing can prepare you for your first baby. Thank heaven for my mother. Why? Because she had seen it all before, had years of experience raising my sister and I, and, as consequence, knew how to practically deal with situations with pragmatic advice and guidance that were often not covered in any book or class.

You could describe my mother as my Parenting Coach, whereby I was getting individual support whilst learning to achieve a personal goal.

So who is your Agile Coach? What do you mean you haven’t got one! Really? Actually that’s exactly what I did despite only having my first child a few years earlier.

I heard about this Agile thing, went to a conference and got inspired. Read a couple of books and began implementing it. Fantastic! Did it work? Not really. It sort of did early on. Then, it started to stumble as other people started to read other books. How dare they! All of a sudden we had different versions of Agile and everyone had become an Agile fundamentalist based on their chosen flavour of Agile.

Easy to sort out! Let’s get everyone on a Training Course and base it on this (read my) flavour of Agile. We will sheep-dip everyone and that will sort that.

Did that do the trick? Nope! For the very same reason reading a book and going to antenatal class does not prepare you for parenthood.

Also, how did I know that this flavour of Agile was going to do the trick? Actually, why was I implementing Agile in the first place? But that’s another story (sorry, blog post).

So I needed help, advice and guidance from someone who could give me real-life practical and pragmatic coaching. Because, actually, we were undertaking fundamental organisational change without even being aware of it. And yeah, change ain’t easy!

So what did I do? I got help!

If anything of this resonates with you, then we can help - in fact, Radtac helped me.
